This session discussed the concept of creating a flow of exercises from early conceptual exercises through to rendering and texturing. It seems important to me to make sure that there is a flow of concepts from an exercise to the next.

Self Directed Study
I have been looking at the course notes for one paper at a local college. I was interested to see that the tutor expects students to attend 2 hours of lecture, 2 hours of tutorial, and 6 hours of self-directed study. The tutor is saying that you should put more time into self-directed than you get form the college. Total time for one paper is 10 hours per week, most of which is self-directed.
Upskilling Your Office
When new people start in your office, it is the perfect time to make sure that they know Vectorworks well. Since they will be working for you, it’s important that they know how to use Vectorworks first then they need to understand how you are using it.
Is urgent the same as important?
When I started teaching Vectorworks in the UK, I noticed that while the students understood that learning and practicing Vectorworks was important, they could not find the time to practice. It was as if they knew it was important, buy they could not make it a priority.

How Important is good Training?

The interesting thing for me was that they are not even using this version of Vectorworks effectively…

This session looked at the Education Resources and how to find them on the web site. We also looked at the image on the web site that shows the parts and how the parts relate to each other, and teaching Vectorworks as a whole. I think the road map is really useful to see how the parts relate, and it makes it easy to plan teaching Vectorworks.
