epodcast167 – Wall Framing Core of Wall

In previous versions of Vectorworks, you were unable to tell Vectorworks where in the wall you should put the wall framing.

  1. Hi, Jon. Coupld of questins with this:
    Why do the studs default to Details class instead of one we can specify (such as Structural-Framing);
    Why does it not frame to the ends of the walls, instead leaving a 4×4 open corner?
    Can the headers be adjusted, since it is silly to cripple-stud the couple of inches above an opening when a deeper 2x will work better and faster?
    I also had a masonry wall on that layer, which this framed as well. Can we specify the walls to be framed with this tool?

    • The studs default to the details class because that’s the way Vectorworks has made it. There is no way you can change it before you finish the framing. But you can change them afterwards.

      In previous versions Vectorworks the wall framer used to frame the corners as well, rather than leaving a four inch open corner.

      The 3-D model can be adjusted after it’s finished. This will not however update the worksheets.

  2. Good afternoon Jonathan, I was searching your website for videos on the AEC wall framing tool but cant seem to find any directly related. Would you happen to have some information on that tool within another video which you can direct me to?

    Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
