When Steve jobs introduced the Macintosh in 1984 he called it the computer for the rest of us. The concept was that the mac would be easy to use and you would not have to be a computer technician to use the mac. At the time it was the best, easiest, and most user friendly. It had a mouse, and screen that showed you exactly what you get on your page, WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) they called it.
I really think that the iPad is the real computer for the rest of us. I was at a iPad meeting the other day, and I was amazed to see people that had never had a computer using the iPad for the first time. Most of the people in the meeting were retired, but they were taking to their iPads very quickly. I think the touch screen and the operating system make it easy to learn to use the iPad. The gestures you can use make it really fast to get around. Once you start to use the gestures, they seem very natural.
