Building occupancy for fire calculations tends to be different then the car parking. This is a safety issue, so you have to calculate the maximum number of people that could possibly be in the building. As with the last exercise, the figures I’m using have to be checked against your building regulations.
In this exercise, we want to have different areas of occupancy. Some areas have high levels of occupancy (teaching areas and office areas), some areas have medium occupancy, and some areas (storage) have almost no one in them.
To define these areas, you could use names on each area. This is difficult to maintain and the worksheet is difficult to set up, and risky to maintain. It is better to use classes for each area.
