This session discussed the concept of creating a flow of exercises from early conceptual exercises through to rendering and texturing. It seems important to me to make sure that there is a flow of concepts from an exercise to the next.
This session looked at basic technical drawing skills and whether they should be taught as part of Vectorworks or whether they should be taught separately. There is an argument that these basic skills should be understood before the students learn to use the power of Vectorworks.
The attendees wanted to talk about setting up the structure for a training course. The example that we used is a landscape course, but the principles will be the same for any course that you want to create. I have used two manuals as the basis of the course work.
In this session we looked at how the student should be advised to use self-directed study to improve the learning outcome. I have always used self-directed study, but i used to call it homework. From now on, I will be using this new phrase.
In this session we looked at getting new users started with Vectorworks. I recently had a visit on site with an old client. They had been having trouble with Vectorworks and they felt that it wasn’t drawing well enough for their office.
This was the second session for the Education Special Interest Group for May 2013. The topics we covered were not strictly to do with Vectorworks, they were focused mainly on looking for resources that we could use for creating online tests and quizzes.
This was the first session of the Education Special Interest Group for May 2013, and it looked at the roadmap on the website and how this could be used to help plan the course for landscape design.
In this session we looked at the resources that have been added to the web site since March 2013. There have been several pages added to the site, and in particular a road map that can be used to understand how the resources relate to each other and can be used to plan the training.
This session looked at the Education Resources and how to find them on the web site. We also looked at the image on the web site that shows the parts and how the parts relate to each other, and teaching Vectorworks as a whole. I think the road map is really useful to see how the parts relate, and it makes it easy to plan teaching Vectorworks.
In this session we looked at the resources that have been created this month on the Educations Resources page. Each month more resources are being added, so it is a good idea to see how the resources are being added and if the order of the resources need amending.
This was the second session for the education special interest group, and again we spent a lot of time discussing the structure that would be appropriate for educational purposes.
